As another Canine Experts Academy comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the journey my students are about to begin—and the one I’ve taken to get here. It made me ask myself: What has helped me grow? What has held me back? What mindsets did I have to overcome, and what challenges will I still face as I pursue new goals?
One truth keeps rising to the top:
The life we live is the life we design.
It’s about listening—to your intuition, to your guides, to God—and then acting with intention. Even when I was dismissed as “just a dreamer,” I kept dreaming. But dreaming wasn’t enough. I had to design the life I wanted and then take intentional steps to achieve it. That also meant checking in regularly to make sure I was still climbing the right ladder, and letting go of what no longer served me.
So I’ll ask you:
Are you designing your life? Or just living it by default?
What Do You Really Want?
What memories do you want to create?
Which relationships matter most—and do you prioritize them?
Do you wake up with purpose and presence? Or with stress and dread?
Are you taking steps toward your goals—daily, weekly, yearly? Are you pausing to reflect, celebrate, recalibrate?
Are you serving others? Contributing in a way that lights you up? Service is a necessary ingredient to true joy.
We can’t control everything—illness, loss, global uncertainty—but we can control our responses, our habits, how we treat others, how we show up. That’s where our power lies.
And we need to use that power to create a compelling future.
Did you know your brain releases more dopamine in anticipation of something than in the actual experience of it? Hope matters. Goals matter. Looking forward to your life matters.
Progress = Fulfillment
We need growth. We need to stretch.
We need to become more of who we’re capable of being.
Years ago, when I decided to build an online business, I struggled. I faced frustration at learning a new skill and nearly quit. But then I made a decision: I would become obsessed with learning from those who had achieved what I was pursuing. I read every online marketing book, took courses, listened to hundreds of podcasts, and interviewed those who had achieved online success. A year later, I was teaching others about online business.
That’s the power of focused intention.
Research shows that dedicating just 3 hours a week for a year to learning a skill can put you in the top 5% of people practicing it. Imagine where you could be a year from now if you started today.
When we’re not making regular progress, our growth becomes stagnant—and that’s a fast track to dissatisfaction with life. Many people make excuses or blame others and their circumstances for their lack of progress or fulfillment. But the truth is, they’re not disappointed in others—they’re disappointed in themselves. If you peel back the layers, you’ll often find someone who knows they’re meant for more, but who hides behind excuses and blame to stay small and “safe.”
So what goals or dreams have you been holding back on?
Is there a skill you want to master? A version of yourself you’ve been putting off becoming?
Because in a year, you’ll either be transformed—or still stuck in the same place.

Reinventing You
Our cells regenerate regularly. So why not our identities?
Who do you want to become next? Who do you want to help? What do you want to let go of? What do you want to stop tolerating?
Say no to what’s draining you, so you can say yes to your purpose.
I don’t believe God put us here to live small, stagnant, or stuck. I believe we’re here to grow, to serve, to create, and to feel true joy.
So dream. Design. Devote just a few hours a week to your growth.
Because one day, when you’re 80, rocking on your front porch, you’ll look back. And I want you to smile—not because your life was perfect, but because it was intentionally yours.
No more excuses. No more waiting.
Start now. You deserve a joyful, meaningful life.
Go design it.
In Closing
This chapter of your life with your pet is incredibly precious. It holds the potential for deep spiritual connection, healing, and profound love—if you are present enough to receive it.
So please, give yourself permission to stop fighting and start being.
Let the final gift you give your beloved companion be your presence, your love, and your willingness to let go when they’re ready.
That, more than anything, is what they want.
Here is a mantra I share with my pet guardians:
Mantra for the Transition
“I love you. I hear you. I release you.
You are free now—free to run, free to fly, free to return to the stars.
Thank you for walking this life with me.
You are not leaving me—you are becoming part of everything.
Go with love. I will meet you again.”
With love,
