‘Tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to spread the holiday cheer than by including your furry friend in the festivities? Our four-legged companions have a limited number of Christmases, so let’s make each one special. One delightful way to do so is by whipping up a batch of homemade dog treats that will have tails wagging in excitement!
Santa Paws Bliss Biscuits
Ingredients:
For the Biscuits:
-
- 1 cup canned pumpkin (make sure it’s pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt (unsweetened)
- 1 egg
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries (unsweetened and preferably no added sugars)
For the Yogurt Drizzle:
-
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt (unsweetened)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned pumpkin, plain yogurt, and egg. Mix well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the rolled oats and dried cranberries to the wet mixture. Mix until you achieve a firm, cohesive dough.
Shape the Biscuits:
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use holiday-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake:
Bake the biscuits for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-baking.
Prepare Yogurt Drizzle:
While the biscuits are cooling, make the yogurt drizzle. Simply microwave the yogurt for a few seconds until it’s slightly melted and can be easily drizzled.
Drizzle Yogurt:
Once the biscuits have cooled, drizzle each one with a bit of the melted yogurt. Allow the yogurt to set.
Serve and Enjoy:
Once the yogurt drizzle has set, these delicious homemade treats are ready to be served to your pup. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
This holiday season, let the spirit of giving extend to our loyal companions. Share the love, the joy, and a tasty treat with your furry family members. After all, the best part of the holidays is celebrating with those we hold dear, and that undoubtedly includes our paw-some pals. Happy baking and a Merry Christmas to you and your canine companions! ????????
Note: Always check with your veterinarian if your dog has any dietary restrictions or specific health conditions.
